The Reliance One team gathered to celebrate the wish that they granted to seven-year old, Aaron.

February 1, 2016

Auburn Hills, MI – Reliance One, Inc. was happy to welcome Brenda Moore and Mary Grace McCarter from the Rainbow Connection to our Headquarters last week. Brenda and Mary came by to thank us for our contributions to the Rainbow Connection and to show us what our sponsorship made possible.

This year, Reliance One was able to grant a wish to seven-year old Aaron. Aaron loves the Ninja Turtles, playing outside, reading, and shopping at Wal-Mart. Reliance One is proud to support Aaron’s wish of going to Disneyworld in Florida. We are told that he is very excited to meet all of the Superheroes and characters at Disney!

“We are so proud of our team for putting in the efforts to make this donation possible. We have had remarkable participation in all of our events this year – from wrapping gifts at Carson’s, to change wars, and jeans days, the support from our team has been inspiring,” said Kristen Latimer, VP of Administration and the Chairwoman of R1 Impact. R1 Impact is an initiative that was created to give back to the community and to develop and grow the employees of Reliance One through community service.

Reliance One employees and their families wrapped presents to raise money for the Rainbow Connection

Auburn Hills, MI – Reliance One teamed up with Carson’s at the Village of Rochester this weekend to make dreams come true. The team wrapped gifts in exchange for donations, which were collected to grant a wish for a child with a life-threatening illness through the Rainbow Connection.

This is the 3rd year that the Reliance One team has volunteered to wrap presents with plans of granting a child’s wish. “We are incredibly close to this year’s goal and we are overjoyed that we will be able to grant another wish this January,” said Kristen Latimer, Vice President of Administration and Head of Reliance One’s community involvement team, R1 Impact. Reliance One Hosts First 5K Race

Wednesday, October 14, 2015

5k

Reliance One’s Vice President of Recruitment and Operations, Rob Wicker and his daughter Libby, starting the race out strong.

Auburn Hills, MI – On Sunday, October 11th, Reliance One hosted their first annual 5k Donut Dash to promote employee wellness and to raise money for the Rainbow Connection as part of our R1 Impact initiative.

The event featured a costume contest, first place prizes, and of course cider and donuts. Jennifer Petritis, Human Resources Coordinator, played a large part in the planning of the event. “I was extremely impressed with the turnout at this event. We exceeded our fundraising expectations and participants were able to reach personal goals by completing the race alongside of colleagues and family. I am looking forward to a 2nd Annual 5k Donut Dash!”

Reliance One started R1 Impact in 2013 to make a difference in the communities that we work in while developing and growing personally and professionally. Last year, Reliance One employees raised enough funds to sponsor a wish for the Rainbow Connection which sent a young girl and her family on a dream trip to Walt Disney World.

R1 Impact would not be possible without the generosity of everyone who continuously participates in Reliance One’s fundraising events.  Thank you to everyone who coordinated and participated in the 2015 Donut Dash 5k. If you would like to know more about upcoming events this year, follow us on Facebook for updates!

Reliance One Grants a Wish for Calyn!

February 20, 2014

Auburn Hills, Michigan

The most rewarding part of owning a business is beyond celebrating success. The true feeling of victory comes from helping those around you when they are in need. The goal of Reliance One is to “build teams;” the mantra not only includes our clients teams, it includes building up the team in the community. “We know only too well that what we are doing is nothing more than a drop in the ocean. But if the drop were not there, the ocean would be missing something.” ― Mother Teresa

For the past year Reliance One has been raising money through various fundraisers to help make a dream come true through the Rainbow Connection. The Rainbow Connection, which is a Michigan based charity, was able to introduce Calyn, a 14 year old who was diagnosed with cancer, to the Reliance One Team. Through the program, Reliance One sponsored Calyn’s wish to travel to the Bahamas. “Choosing the Rainbow Connection for a fundraiser was easy; it is a great cause that benefits local children. As a parent, I cannot imagine the sacrifices that families have to endure when children are diagnosed with a life threatening illness. “said Jim Beath, President of Reliance One.

Calyn traveled with her family to the Atlantis resort where they were able to enjoy the beach, take advantage of all of the water slides, and even swim with the dolphins! “We are thrilled that Calyn was able to visit the Bahamas, and we’re very happy that we were able to help make that wish happen for her”, said Beath.

About The Rainbow Connection®

Since 1985, The Rainbow Connection has helped thousands of Michigan children who are literally fighting for their lives experience their most special dream come true. Today the Rainbow Connection’s annual budget is 1.8 million. Their funding is provided by generous donations from the community. Over 87% of every dollar donated goes directly to programs and services for children with these life threatening illnesses.

R1 Impact – Through Serving Others

February 4, 2014

Reliance One is introducing an exciting new initiative that will focus on their volunteering and charity programs; “R1 Impact Through Serving Others.” The committee members have put together a program that will benefit both the community and employees. “As a company, we are committed to being involved in the communities with which we do business,” said Jim Beath, President of Reliance One.

The company will continue to support organizations such as; The Rainbow Connection, The Ronald McDonald House and local families through the Adopt a Family program that helps bring joy around the holidays. In addition, the company introduced “The Reliance One Day of Service Program.” Throughout the year, co-workers will join together as teams and devote days of volunteering to organizations in Southeast Michigan. “It is important to me that each and every team member knows how important it to give back to the community. This not only will help with some great causes, but help grow and develop our employees,” said Beath.

Reliance One will be coordinating fundraisers to help support these organizations throughout the year. Our company volunteer efforts and donations will be continuously updated on the R1 website.

Casual For A Cause

Apr 30, 2013

Auburn Hills – “Denim Day,” was a huge success at Reliance One, Inc. As a fun and professional company, it was a great opportunity for the employees to support a cause while enjoying the perks of wearing jeans to work. Funds raised on Friday April 26th will go to HAVEN, an Oakland County organization that assists victims of sexual assault and domestic violence. The inspiration for this event was a result of L. Brooks Patterson encouraging the community to participate; the owners did not hesitate once they found out the great cause that the company would be supporting. As a result, Reliance One matched 100% of the contributions made by their employees. For more information about participating in Denim Day or making a donation to support victims of sexual assault and domestic violence, contact HAVEN at 248-334-1284, ext. 346.

As active members of the community, Reliance One and its employees continue to host fundraising events to support local causes. Currently the team is working to sponsor a wish through the Rainbow Connection. The team is about a quarter of the way to their goal with a Cinco De Mayo Celebration planned for Friday May 3rd and another event scheduled at Air Time Trampoline on June 6th. The Healing Power of a Helping Hand

In March 2012, Reliance One unlocked the doors to its headquarters in Auburn Hills. With the new building came a re-branding that completely changed the company. This inspired new success for Reliance One, which is just one of the reasons the company decided to become involved in community. After researching local organizations Reliance One discovered The Rainbow Connection a Michigan based charity dedicated to granting wishes to children who are literally fighting for their lives.

Reliance One agreed to Adopt a Wish and is currently working to raise $4,500 to make a child’s dream a reality. Currently they have risen over $800 through company fundraisers; a recent success was a day dedicated to gift wrapping during the holidays at Parisian a department store in the Village of Rochester. Planning has just begun for a Bowl-A-Thon as the next approach to raise money for the cause.

The Rainbow Connection was founded in 1985 and has since helped over 2,500 wishes come to life for kids ages 2 ½ – 18 years old. The organization has granted everything from family vacations to brand new cars; each inspiring story is listed on their website. To learn more about this amazing organization visit www.rainbowconnection.org. And be sure to keep an eye out for upcoming events held by Reliance One to sponsor the Rainbow Connection!
