My Favorite 5! Leadership Book Reviews

Written By: Chad Toms, VP of National Sales, Sales

#4 Shoe Dog by Phil Knight.  Wow, what a wild and fun ride.  Phil Knight wrote his memoir on how he created Nike.  He started the company out of college by taking out a $50 loan from his father.  He built one of the most famous brands in the world.

Phil started making the gel soles in waffle makers and quickly traveled to Japan and China in search of manufacturing sites.  He took many risks and he assembled a cast of characters to ensure the right people were in the right seats.  He felt that he had leadership limitations that did not stop him from believing in his company and his team.  Phil surrounded himself with great people and the rest is history.  They took on the biggest shoe company in the world, survived and then changed the world!

It is a book that shows that anything is possible if you work hard and never stop.  I love this book and will be reading it again soon.  I wonder if I can make it through twice before Nelson ever finishes it… (Inside joke)
